Virtual World - Week

So, this Wednesday we did not have full lecture. It was 1-hour-or-so Joe shared us his game design view in Disneyland then he gave opinion to everyone's level design (optional) - means not everyone was required to show him the level design. In summary, this is what I wrote from his Disneyland trip sharing:

Joe's game design view from Disneyland:
- Entertain player during waiting time either by art or little game --> during waiting line there is an art  and sometime a small game to keep you entertained.
- Use landscape to cover up area player mustn't see yet --> boat ride stands in a vast area and is surrounded by landscape to hide the other ride's and to enforce the boat ride in the middle of jungle.
- Scope well the game not only for the player but also for the maintenance people --> the size of Disneyland
- Teaching the player without stressing the player --> the front gate people are the most important in Disneyland in selling the experience in Disneyland. If the welcoming parties in front gate are not friendly enough, it may ruin your experience even before entering the park
- An indication to tell whether a player is special (new player) --> the buttons in Disneyland
