More update on Vinyl

I have been quiet for more than a month but that doesn't mean that there is no progress at all at our Vinyl. Well, yes, the progress is a little bit slower down but we did still made progress.

Since April 29, we had gone through 5 sprints. This week we are doing the 6th sprint! In the first four sprint, we still had 3 engineers working on it. In the last week of May we knew that iJason got internship with EA. I was happy for him :). This made the 'active' engineers down to 2: me and Cody which decided to stay and doing internship with the program during the summer. Well, my main reason was so that someone can still working on Vinyl especially since I am the audio engineer (for the audio manipulation part). bJason did helped with creating the main menu screen to enable loading user chosen music in the last sprint. He also joined the last two sprint review through Skype.

So, how far is Vinyl?

In addition to the code-generated-track-mesh, we had already implemented the code-generated-rail-mesh. The scratch back had already be implemented. Jump had also been put in the game. The track gone in spiral like vinyl record supposed to be (from outside to inside in counter clockwise direction). Main menu had been added to accommodate player choosing the song they want to use for the game. The track also bumped based the frequency change between each note.

At the moment the game can only recognize WAV file. Later we will added a MP3 to WAV converter in the game. In the last month there is also a big chance in the pure data we are using for this game. I will detail about this change in separate post.
